The BMS is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal publishing in both English and French. The journal specialises in social science research methods, for data production as well as analysis, which it addresses by sharing experiences and debating, in a constructive way, the relationship between research questions and the tools used (be they proven or innovative), and the varied ways of implementing these tools.

Michelat Award
The Guy Michelat Award is a dual prize, junior and senior awarded jointly by the BMS, the AFSP and the CED every two years. 2025 winners are Pierre Wolkuri and Dorna Javan. The next edition will take place in spring 2027.
