Materials Science and Technology Literature Review Prize

The aim of the Materials Science and Technology Literature Review Prize is to encourage definitive, critical reviews of the literature by students and to make these available to a wider readership by publication in the journal Materials Science and Technology (MST). The prize is administered by the main Editor team of MST.

Submission Instructions

Submissions are now open for the 2026 prize. The deadline is Friday 26th June 2026

Please refer to the manuscript submission guidelines page for instructions on how to submit your manuscript. During the submission stage, please select the manuscript type "MST Literature Review Prize 2026" to ensure that your paper is considered for the prize.

While all accepted reviews will be published, up to four of the contributors will form the finalists in the competition. They will present the reviews orally during Winter 2026, to a panel of judges compiled from the Editors of MST, who will then select the winner and runner ups.

The Prize is open to any postgraduate studying for a materials science and engineering related qualification at either a UK or international institution. Papers submitted for prize consideration can be either single or multi-author.
